About Town Explorers

Hi, I'm Phil — the person behind Town Explorers.

I'm based in Hebden Bridge, a brilliant little town tucked into the Calder Valley in West Yorkshire. It's the kind of place that rewards those who wander off the main street, and that's one of the reasons I was inspired to create Town Explorers. The other reason was that a lot of people, especially children, don’t enjoy sightseeing. My aim was to make sightseeing fun.

I wanted to help people discover towns like Hebden Bridge the fun way — not with a dry leaflet, but with audio, stories, fun activities and easy-to-follow navigation that makes a day out genuinely enjoyable and stress free.

How the Self-Guided Tours Work

Each Town Explorers tour is instantly accessible lol after purchase via our website. There is no app to download but you will need mobile network connection. Inside you'll find:

  • The “Trail Guide” - imagine this as the central hub. It’s full of practical information such as where the nearest toilet is, where to park, recommended cafes and pubs.
  • ”Find” button - Click this and you’ll find the discovery point using the built in map along with written directions or turn by turn satellite navigation using Apple or Google maps. Clear and stress-free.
  • ”Read” button - Click this to read about your discovery point. Don’t just walk past the town’s landmarks like everyone else - wouldn’t it be great to know why they are there and the story they tell?
  • ”Listen” button - Click this to listen to the audio version. Reading isn’t for everyone. Listen to a local tell you all there is to know in a concise, clear way. 
  • Explorer Challenges — fun challenges and things to spot that keep kids (and adults) engaged along the way. You don’t have to do these but wouldn’t it be fun to know what your final score is?
